Accessibility Statement

Accessibility

We have undertaken to use our knowledge and understanding of the ways in which different people access the Internet, to develop a web site that is clear and simple for everybody to use.

The icons along the top after the word "Colour" allow the user to change the background colour as an aid for legibility.

The method for changing the size of the text is dependent on the browser being used.

For Internet Explorer 6, click on the drop down menu entitled "View", click on "Text size" and select "Larger" or "Largest" as appropriate.

For Internet Explorer 7 and Opera 9, hold down the control key (labelled "Ctrl" on your PC keyboard) and then press on the plus key "+" to increase the size of the text and pictures.

For Firefox on the PC, the same technique will increase the size of the text only.

For Firefox on the Mac, using the Command key with the plus key will increase the size of the text and the images.

Safari on the Mac, the same technique will increase the size of the text only.

Validation

We have used XHTML 1.0 and CSS that conforms to specification, as laid out by the W3C because we believe that usability and accessibility must have a solid foundation.

We have also endeavoured to achieve AA accessibility as measured against version 1.0 of the WCAG. We are aware however, that a number of the checkpoints of the WCAG are subjective — and although we are sure that we have met them squarely, there may be instances where interpretation may vary.
