Course dates for Social Care Leadership Development Programme at Birmingham

Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) has announced details of its Social Care Leadership Development Programme 2008.

The 12-month programme run by the King's Fund, Birmingham University and The Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust is Department of Health funded. It is open to senior managers in adult social care and will offer three intakes in September and November 2008 and January 2009.

The programme is designed around three themes

• Leadership for social care outcomes
• Personal and organisational leadership
• Community leadership

New £6 million enterprise programme

Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector, has announced grant awards totalling £17 million through the Improving Reach Programme. The grants are to help organisations working with excluded communities to flourish through the provision of information, advice and facilities. He also announced the launch of a Capacitybuilders Social Enterprise Programme, with £6 million being invested over the next three years www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/third_sector/news/news_stories/
